Children can start working with Part 1 of the programme at the start of Key Stage 2. It will take such young pupils at least two years to work their way through the entire textbook and workbook.
The textbook (Part 1) comprises 10 chapters, each of which is four pages long. In addition the textbook includes a 30-page dictionary and verb list at the back. The Textbook contains 86 pages.
The 150-page workbook (Part 1) is bursting with missing-word exercises, puzzles, open-ended questions, drama exercises, listening exercises, etc. Pupils can check their own work using the book of solutions. Since the workbook is the most important book for the children working with this method, we recommend that you order a workbook for each pupil. The workbook is published in full colour, and some of the colours have a unique and important significance in the learning process. The workbook provides the basis for 2 years’ worth of Spanish learning. It contains 158 pages.
The USB-stick Part 1 contains the words and conversations from the textbook, spoken by four native/near-native people as well as listening exercises and Spanish music to accompany the exercises in the workbook.
The Solutions book contains the answers to ‘las tareas’ from the workbook for part 1 Juan y Rosa están de vacaciones. Most exercises have just one right answer, but if there are multiple possible answers then this is indicated by ‘p.ej.’. This is the abbreviation for ‘por ejemplo’, which means ‘for example’.
A number of open-ended exercises from the workbook which require pupils to search for their own answers are not elaborated on in this Solutions book. The solutions to the tests (las pruebas) are provided at the back of the book. The maximum number of marks that can be achieved is indicated below the solutions. The Solutions book contains 65 pages.
Pupils can check their own work using this book of solutions.
The learning method is being supported by the free Edmodo.com digital learning environment of Juan y Rosa. From now until the summer, the special COVID-19 price offer will give even more young pupils the chance to boost their energy and reignite the joy of learning in this unprecedented time.
Part 1 of the method is accompanied by a teachers’ manual and a pupils’ manual. You can find these manuals under ‘More information Part 1’ (below the heading ‘More information Part 1’) as well as in Juan y Rosa’s free Edmodo.com digital learning environment.
