In Valencia, it is customary to celebrate the arrival of spring with large bonfires. Traditionally, workshops were cleaned up before the new year and sculptures were made out of the waste materials. At the end of the two-week-long festival, Las Fallas, the sculptures are still burned, except for the most beautiful ones, which are preserved in a museum.
